About Yurara no Yu Nara Branch

"Yurara no Yu Nara Branch" is a day-use hot spring facility in Nara City, Nara Prefecture. Centered around the open-air bath Suzaku no Yu, which evokes the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese garden, it also features newly added, characterful Shigaraki-yaki pot baths and bathtubs equipped with an overflow system that lets you enjoy constantly fresh water. Four varieties of distinctive saunas help soothe both mind and body, and the deep, cold cold plunge bath offers an invigorating cool-down. There is also a women-only stone sauna and a dining area, making it possible to enjoy a wide range of stays.

Hot SpringONSEN

Natural Spring Suzaku no Yu

The open-air bath of the natural spring Suzaku no Yu, imbued with the atmosphere of a beautiful Japanese garden. Natural hot spring water flowing continuously from a waterfall fills the large roofed bath, allowing you to relax even on rainy days while enjoying the sound of rain. The spring quality is sodium-calcium chloride and bicarbonate hot spring, which warms the body through and makes you less likely to feel chilled afterward, while its smooth texture gently soothes tired bodies.

Shigaraki-yaki Pot Baths

Three newly installed Shigaraki-yaki pot baths in the open-air area. Fired at extremely high temperatures above 1200 degrees, the thick-walled pots retain heat exceptionally well, allowing you to enjoy a private space while luxuriating in a bath all to yourself. With a leisurely view of the Japanese garden spread out before you, this is a bath where each guest can soak at their own pace and sink into the ultimate relaxation.

High-Concentration Carbonated Spring

A large bathtub of high-concentration carbonated spring water in the indoor bathing area. Within just a few minutes of soaking, tiny carbon dioxide bubbles envelop the body, gently expanding the blood vessels and, it is said, increasing blood flow by about four times. Because the water is lukewarm, it places very little strain on the body, allowing you to thoroughly relieve everyday fatigue. An overflow system keeps the bath hygienic at all times by continuously removing hair and other impurities and maintaining freshness.

SaunaSAUNA

01SAUNA

Far-Infrared Sauna Hidamari

Men'sWomen's

A spacious 5-tier stadium sauna. Thanks to the gentle warming effect of far-infrared heat, it is easy to breathe and you can work up a generous sweat without strain. In the open atmosphere, with natural light streaming in, you can choose your preferred height and spend time at your own ideal level of heat. It effectively promotes metabolism and helps wash away everyday stress and fatigue.

02SAUNA

Bakuhanseki Power Sauna

Men'sWomen's

A sauna that makes the most of the qualities of bakuhanseki, a stone prized since ancient times. Powerful far-infrared rays and heat radiating from the stones warm you thoroughly from the core even at a relatively mild set temperature, helping promote the elimination of waste products. Its excellent air-purifying and deodorizing effects keep the space clean and comfortable at all times.

03SAUNA

Mist Sauna Kirigakure

Men'sWomen's

A moisture-focused mist sauna filled with warm mist. Fine, skin-friendly warm water mist envelops the entire body, opening the pores and supporting the removal of waste products. Because the temperature is relatively low and it does not feel stifling, you can stay for a long, relaxing session. This oasis-like space lets you fully enjoy not only improved circulation, but also skin-beautifying and relaxing effects.

04SAUNA

Skin-Soothing Salt Sauna

Women's

A salt sauna in the women-only area designed to care for the skin. The salt placed on the body gradually melts under the gentle heat, removing old dead skin cells and impurities from the pores and leaving the skin smooth like silk. While looking out at the open-air view through the large windows, you can focus on your own beauty and detox in this refined beauty space.

Cold BathCOLD BATH

01COLD BATH

Cold Bath

Men'sWomen's

A very deep and large cold plunge bath in the indoor bathing area, with a depth of 80 to 110 cm. After the sauna, you can sink into it at once and cool down efficiently from head to toe in crisp, cold water. Though it uses tap water, the temperature is carefully controlled, and the tightening cold sensation is wonderfully refreshing. It closes up open pores and serves as a bridge to the ultimate state of totonou.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
