Hot Spring & Bath Information

Kumanodai Onsen

TypeNatural Hot Spring

A sodium chloride hot spring rising from 1,000 m underground, classified as a hypotonic, slightly alkaline, low-temperature hot spring. It is characterized by containing radon, which is said to help eliminate uric acid from the body. The salt coats the skin's surface and prevents moisture evaporation, providing excellent heat retention and moisturizing effects; it is also known for being less likely to cause chill after bathing. You can fully enjoy its rich benefits in baths of different character, such as a spacious rock bath and a hinoki cypress bath that carries the scent of wood.

A sauna room with bright lighting and the scent of fresh wood. With no TV or background music, the silent space allows you to focus inward. The thermometer reads in the 80°C range, but because the humidity is set low in a Showa-strong-style dry configuration, the perceived temperature is extremely high and you feel an intense pressure of heat. Sitting on the upper bench in front of the stove exposes you to direct heat, and even for a short time beads of sweat will pour from your whole body; this hard setting is the attraction.

A cold plunge bath located immediately outside the sauna room. Although the water temperature is set at a mild level, the water quality is soft and smooth, so there is no prickly sting and you can stay in comfortably for longer. The depth is well secured, allowing you to immerse up to your shoulders to cool your whole body. After the cold plunge bath you can sit on benches in the outdoor area and indulge in a deep open-air relaxation while feeling the night sky and breeze.
