SaunaSun

Nagasaki sauna sanctuary open 24 hours, with three saunas and a main sauna featuring a footbath

Nagasaki Sasebo City

Sauna Sun is a male-only sauna facility and capsule hotel located in Sasebo, Nagasaki. Open 24 hours year-round, this long-established venue is celebrated by sauna enthusiasts across Japan as the sacred site of Nagasaki sauna. The main high-temperature dry sauna features a METOS heater and automatic löyly, and its unique layout even includes a footbath inside the room. You can tour three different saunas: a higher-humidity fragrant Wako Sauna, a herbal steam sauna with drifting herb steam, and the main dry sauna. Staff-led aufguss sessions are held three times a week. The facility also offers a smooth cold plunge bath treated with bamboo charcoal, a relaxation room, a manga corner, a coworking space, a restaurant, and lodging, making it an ideal base for sauna trips.

Hot Spring & Bath Information

Esthetic Bath, Reclining Bath, Vibra (Bubble) Tub

TypeSpecialty Bath

Ideal for rinsing between the main sauna and the Wako Sauna are the esthetic bath, a reclining bath where you can lie back, and a vibra tub where bubbles envelop the body. Although not a natural hot spring, the well-maintained baths expand the range of contrast hot-and-cold bathing in combination with the saunas. The jets and bubbles provide pleasant stimulation and are useful both for preparing the body before a sauna session and for relaxation afterward.

The main sauna uses a METOS heater. The interior features a four-tier tower-style bench, and on the left as you enter there is a unique footbath installed directly in front of the stove. Automatic löyly produces steam every 5-6 minutes, maintaining humidity while delivering powerful heat waves that promote sweating. Staff-led aufguss sessions are held on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays for a deeper heat experience. A TV is installed, making it comfortable to stay for longer periods.

A mid-temperature, dimly lit sauna with a convection stove. Daily rotating aromatics are placed on the stove, filling the space with rich fragrances such as stems of Seshihara kukicha or hojicha. The slightly higher humidity allows the body to warm deeply and sweat well despite moderate temperatures. The serene, Japanese-style space offers a meditative time immersed in scent. Sauna shorts are mandatory while using this sauna.

Sauna TypeSteam Sauna

Men's

A low-temperature steam sauna where herbal vapors continuously rise. The scent changes by day, often including rosemary and other herbs, and the herbal aroma penetrates deeply with each breath. Despite the lower temperature, the high humidity makes it easy to stay without shortness of breath, leaving the skin moist and allowing for longer stays. Sauna shorts are mandatory while using this sauna.

A shallow design with a water depth of 40-60 cm, the Original Sauna Sun System contains bamboo charcoal and coral. The water feels remarkably smooth on the skin and offers an invigorating, bracing coolness reminiscent of the nearby sea. It effectively cools the body heated in the sauna, and the classic flow is to relax and recover on the reclining seats in the rest area afterward. The layout between the sauna and the cold plunge bath is also convenient.
