About Kusamakura Onsen Tensui
Kusamakura Onsen Tensui stands on a hill in Soeda, the setting of Natsume Soseki’s masterpiece Kusamakura, and boasts breathtaking panoramic views of Ariake Sea, the Shimabara Peninsula, and Mount Unzen Fugendake. At sunset in particular, the open-air bath is exceptionally beautiful as you watch the sun sink into the sea. The large bath area is equipped with a far-infrared sauna, and after sauna time, a cold plunge bath filled with Kumamoto’s abundant natural underground water awaits. There is also a newly introduced reservation-only private scenic open-air sauna, where you can enjoy totonou in a private space. From the seasonal mandarin orange bath to the atmospheric Kusamakura no Yu, you can refresh your mind and body in a variety of baths that blend playfulness with history.
