About Yumotokan

"Yumotokan" is a historic hot spring ryokan founded in 1929, nestled in Ogoto Onsen in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. Guests can enjoy a wide variety of baths with different atmospheres throughout the facility, including the top-floor open-air bath Gesshin no Yu, which offers a panoramic view of Lake Biwa, the nature-filled open-air bath Yugen Shoyo, and two panoramic large public baths. The hot spring is an alkaline simple spring with a pH of 9.0 that leaves the skin feeling smooth. The panoramic large public baths are equipped with a dry sauna and a cold plunge bath, making sauna bathing especially appealing as you gaze out over the scenery of Lake Biwa. Luxurious private open-air baths and dishes made with Omi beef are also highly praised.

Hot SpringONSEN

Ogoto Onsen

The historic Ogoto Onsen has been gushing since the early Showa period. The source is an alkaline simple spring with a pH above 9.0, known for its smooth, silky texture. The large public baths offer a wide range of options, from an infinity open-air bath on the top floor overlooking Lake Biwa to a tasteful open-air bath surrounded by trees. Soaking in the water helps remove dead skin cells, and after bathing the skin feels smooth, which is why it is cherished as a beautiful-skin hot spring.

SaunaSAUNA

01SAUNA

Dry sauna

Men'sWomen's

A dry sauna attached to the panoramic large public baths Kono no Yu and Sampo no Yu. In the compact room, where the gentle scent of wood drifts through the air, the intense heat wraps efficiently around your entire body. There is no TV, and the quiet, calm atmosphere lets you spend a meditative time focusing on the view outside and your own heartbeat. Because the baths operate on a gender-swapping schedule, you can enjoy sauna bathing while taking in different views depending on the time of day.

Cold BathCOLD BATH

Cold Bath

Men'sWomen's

A compact cold plunge bath set right in front of the sauna room. Its crisp, chilled, clear water effectively cools down your body after a good sweat in the sauna. With a comfortable degree of coldness and a pleasant feel against the skin, it refreshingly tightens your heated body. Access to the open-air area is also excellent, allowing a smooth transition to outdoor air bathing with a view of Lake Biwa, while the quiet lake breeze leads you into deep relaxation.
