About Katsuragi Onsen Happa-no-Yu

"Katsuragi Onsen Happa-no-Yu" is a day-use hot spring and lodging complex located at the foot of Mount Koya in Katsuragi Town, Ito District, Wakayama Prefecture. It owns multiple high-quality natural spring sources, including its fifth source, a rare "fossil seawater" spring formed from seawater that dates back tens of thousands of years, which is served as a luxurious free-flowing natural spring in the large bath. Boasting one of the highest salt concentrations in Japan, it is proud of its outstanding warming and moisturizing effects. The facility also features a calm, old-house-style dry sauna and a natural water cold plunge bath with a notably smooth texture. The lodging building offers open-air hot spring baths with free-flowing water in every guest room, allowing visitors to enjoy luxurious relaxation whether they are staying for the day or overnight.

Free-flow from source

Indoor bath

A precious natural hot spring with an astonishingly high salt and iron content, said to be one of the finest in Japan, formed by ancient seawater trapped underground and known as "fossil seawater" (a blend of the fourth and fifth sources, as well as the third source). It is poured as 100% luxurious free-flowing natural spring water, with outstanding warming and moisturizing effects that prevent you from losing heat after bathing, keeping your body warm and comfortably hot for a long time.

Open-air bath

In this open-air area surrounded by lush greenery, you can enjoy a rock bath fed by the property's own second source, a sodium-chloride and sodium bicarbonate cold mineral spring. The water has a gentle feel on the skin, making it ideal for long, leisurely soaks. You can experience a luxurious, soothing bath while feeling the pleasant mountain breeze of Mount Koya across your entire body.

SaunaSAUNA

High-temperature sauna

Men'sWomen's

A characterful dry sauna with thick beams, pillars, and walls reminiscent of an old Japanese house. It has two tiers of L-shaped seating, so you can relax while watching TV. The room is filled with solid heat that feels pleasant on the body and gradually encourages rich, high-quality sweating from deep within.

Cold Bath

Men'sWomen's

A cold plunge bath in a pot-style tub installed right in front of the sauna room. The water is natural water from underground, known for its smooth feel on the skin, so it does not feel sharply cold; instead, it gently envelops the body. It slowly and calmly cools down your overheated body after the sauna.
