About Biwa Front Hikone

Biwa Front Hikone is a resort hot spring hotel standing on the shores of Lake Biwa in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture. Guests can enjoy Biva Lake Matsubara Onsen, which bubbles up from deep underground on the property, in the 110 cm-deep standing open-air bath or the indoor bath with jet bubbles. Its outstanding location lets you admire panoramic views of Lake Biwa and the sunset sinking into the Hira mountain range from the hot spring and sauna. The large public bath also has a sauna with auto löyly and a cold plunge bath, so you can fully enjoy a refreshing outdoor air bath while feeling the pleasant breeze.

Biwa Lake Onsen Ikano-yu

Uses the hotel's private source, Biva Lake Matsubara Onsen, which bubbles up from about 1,500 meters underground. The large public bath includes an indoor bath and a 110 cm-deep open-air bath, where you can soak while taking in the grand panorama of Lake Biwa. The spring quality is sodium bicarbonate spring, known for its moisturizing effect that leaves the skin smooth and supple, making your skin feel remarkably hydrated after bathing. Bathing while watching the beautiful sunset sink behind the Hira mountain range across the lake is truly exceptional.

A dry sauna with auto löyly, attached to the large public bath. The modern design features wall decor inspired by reeds from Lake Biwa, and the room has a rich woody aroma. Regular auto löyly keeps the humidity at a comfortable level at all times, enveloping your whole body in gentle yet substantial heat. From the windows, you can enjoy beautiful views of Lake Biwa and work up a sweat in an exceptional setting.

A cold plunge bath located very close to the sauna room. The soft, gentle water cools down your heated body smoothly and comfortably after the sauna. The water temperature is kept relatively mild, making it easy to soak even for people who do not like extremely cold cold plunge baths. In summer and other seasons, a cooler box filled with ice is placed nearby, adding an extra cooling effect in a uniquely thoughtful touch.
