Umenoya

A skin-beautifying hot spring that flows directly from two private sources

Yamaguchi Yamaguchi City

"Umenoya" is a hot spring ryokan in Yuda Onsen, Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Guests can enjoy 100% pure free-flowing hot spring water, luxuriously blended without any dilution from the 72-degree Yuda source and the 29-degree in-house source called the Bino Gensen. The inn offers two bathing areas: the Hanabai-no-Yu, created in 2025 exclusively for overnight guests, and the Edahada-no-Yu, which can also be enjoyed on day trips, and both are equipped with far-infrared saunas. After gently warming up in the soft heat and working up a slow sweat, you can deeply relax with a refreshing cold plunge bath or outdoor air baths in the open-air area. It is also an inn known for its local delicacies, including fresh local fish and tiger pufferfish.

Hot Spring & Bath Information

TypeNatural Hot Spring

Flow-through

A hot spring luxuriously blended without any added water, combining the high-temperature Yuda source with the low-temperature private source Bino Gensen, which is rich in carbonate ions. The water is adjusted to a comfortable temperature without diluting it, and its silky, almost serum-like texture is a signature feature. This mildly alkaline water is gentle on the skin and offers excellent skin-beautifying and cleansing effects. After bathing, the skin feels smooth, and the warmth lingers long afterward.

Indoor public bath

TypeNatural Hot Spring

A spacious indoor public bath. It is filled with the renowned Yuda Onsen, known for its abundant hot spring flow, and fresh water at the ideal temperature is constantly supplied to maintain a comfortable bathing temperature. This colorless, clear alkaline simple hot spring is gentle on the skin and allows for long, relaxing soaks with your arms and legs stretched out to your heart's content. While basking in the light streaming through the windows, you can gently ease away everyday fatigue and tension, and experience the many benefits of this healing bath, including relief from neuralgia and muscle pain, as well as recovery from exhaustion.

A far-infrared sauna that gently warms the body at a comfortable temperature. The far-infrared rays emitted by the stove encourage a mild sweat from deep within the body. Because the heat is very soft, there is no feeling of breathlessness, and even sauna beginners or those who do not like overly hot environments can relax and stay in longer. Surrounded by the gentle, calming scent of wood, you can spend a deeply relaxing time in a quiet space, almost like meditating.

It is filled with pleasantly cool tap water that gently tightens the body after sauna use and provides a refreshing cool-down. By soaking comfortably in the skin-friendly tub, the circulation-boosting and relaxing effects of alternating hot and cold bathing are further enhanced. The flow to the open-air area is also smooth, naturally leading into a liberating outdoor air bath afterward.
