About Hanabishi Hotel

"Hanabishi Hotel" is a long-established hot spring ryokan in Hakodate, Hokkaido. On the first floor, the large public bath is equipped with an authentic Finnish-style auto-löyly sauna, lavishly built with domestic hinoki wood. Surrounded by the soothing scent of cypress, guests can enjoy a refreshing blast of heat from the auto-löyly that occurs about once every 20 minutes. After the sauna, cool down in the open-air outdoor cold plunge bath, the only one of its kind in the Hakodate area. The gentle chloride spring of Yunokawa Onsen warms you to the core, helps prevent you from getting chilled afterward, and is also expected to offer skin-beautifying benefits.

Yunokawa Onsen

A blended source spring of the historic Yunokawa Onsen, which has long soothed many people. The spring quality is an isotonic, mildly alkaline, high-temperature sodium-calcium chloride hot spring. Because it has a high salt content, the salt coats the skin like a veil after bathing, making it harder for heat to escape and helping you stay warm afterward. It can be enjoyed in the first-floor open-air bath with garden landscaping, and is said to be highly effective for easing muscle pain, joint pain, and sensitivity to the cold.

A Finnish-style sauna that introduced the first auto-löyly in Yunokawa Onsen. The room makes luxurious use of domestic hinoki wood, and the calming woody aroma fills the air the moment you open the door. It uses a ZIEL sauna stove designed to deliver high-quality löyly, along with the finest artificial stone, Kerkes Stone. With rich humidity and waves of heat from the auto-löyly that occurs about once every 20 minutes, you can enjoy deeply refreshing sweating from the core of your body.

An open-air outdoor cold plunge bath attached to the large public bath, and the only one of its kind in the Hakodate area. Its appeal lies in being able to cool down your body, heated all the way through by the sauna, while looking up at the open sky. The water temperature changes depending on the season and period, so you can enjoy a different level of briskness from spring through winter. In the nearby outdoor air-bathing space, totonou chairs (garden chairs) are provided, allowing you to feel Hokkaido's refreshing breeze and relax deeply.
