About Tamana Onsen Hotel Shirasagi

Hotel Shirasagi at Tamana Onsen is a historic hot spring hotel in Tamana City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Tamana Onsen, which is said to have been loved by the wandering poet Taneda Santoka, is a simple hot spring with mildly alkaline water and a silky, smooth feel. The large public baths come in two types: the Japanese-style Shirasagiyu, with an open-air bath, and the Western-style Parthenon, whose Greek-inspired design is eye-catching. Men and women alternate daily. Both baths are equipped with authentic dry saunas and cold plunge baths. Day-use bathing is also available, making it a place widely enjoyed by locals and travelers alike.
