OaraiOushoutei

Spectacular large public baths of cypress and stone overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy a compact, authentic sauna at this inn.

Ibaraki Oarai Town

"Oarai Oushoutei" is an ocean-view hot spring inn perched on a hill near the mouth of the Naka River in Oarai Town, Ibaraki Prefecture. The large public baths are two in number: the stone-built Iso no Yu and the cypress bath Matsu no Yu, both featuring indoor baths and open-air baths with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, Oarai, and Kaimon Bridge. The sodium chloride cold mineral spring known as Oarai Onsen, which bubbles up on the property, is distinguished by the way it warms the body from deep within. The large public baths are also equipped with a compact, full-fledged dry sauna, where you can work up a good sweat in a quiet, calm, completely soundless space. It is a luxurious place to relax while surrounded by the sea breeze and the sound of the waves.
