About Hotel Shirakawa Yunokura

Hotel Shirakawa Yunokura is a historic onsen ryokan in Kinugawa Onsen, Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, founded in the early Showa period. Its natural hot spring, Hatori no Yu, flows from the inn’s own source and is a gentle alkaline simple hot spring that leaves the skin feeling smooth and keeps you warm for longer after bathing. The property features large baths overlooking the Kinugawa Gorge, with Hinoki-yu for men and Ishi-yu for women, as well as open-air baths that let you feel the breeze of the valley, with Kodachi no Yu for men and Iwafu no Yu for women. The men’s and women’s large baths each include an authentic dry sauna, and there are also two private half-open-air baths, Kofu and Teifu, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the gorge in complete privacy throughout the seasons.

Gorge-view Large Bath and Open-air Baths

Facilities include Hinoki-yu for men and Kodachi no Yu open-air bath, as well as Ishi-yu for women and Iwafu no Yu open-air bath. Hatori no Yu, the inn’s own natural hot spring, is an alkaline simple hot spring that is gentle on the skin and keeps you warm for longer after bathing. From the indoor baths, you can take in a sweeping panoramic view of the Kinugawa Gorge, and in the open-air baths, you can enjoy a relaxing bathing experience while feeling the pleasant breeze that flows through the valley.

Private Half-Open-Air Bath

Two private half-open-air baths designed with privacy in mind: Kofu and Teifu. You can enjoy a luxurious private hot spring experience all to yourself while looking out over the Kinugawa stream, fresh greenery, autumn foliage, and, at night, a sky full of stars (fee required: 3,300 yen for 50 minutes, reservations accepted at the front desk on the day).

Large Bath Dry Sauna

An authentic dry sauna equipped in both the men’s and women’s large baths, using a METOS ZIEL stove. While gazing through the small window at the beautiful flow of the Kinugawa Gorge, you can slowly enjoy a pleasant sweat in the heat. There is no cold plunge bath, but cooling off with a cold shower is possible.
