About Yunoshimakan

"Gero Onsen Yunoshimakan" is a long-established hot spring ryokan that has stood on the hillside of Yunoshima Mountain in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture since 1931. Its stately wooden architecture, including the main building in sukiya style, is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Located on the highest ground in Gero Onsen, this distinguished inn lets guests luxuriate in the superb waters of Gero Onsen, one of Japan's three famous hot springs, at the open-air baths, the observation open-air bath, and even the baths in the guest rooms, all fed directly from its private source with no added water and no reheating.

Observation Large Public Bath Gero Onsen

A large public bath located halfway up the mountain. Beautifully polished while preserving the modern style of its original era, it features a spacious tub brimming with 100% pure water from the inn's private source, with no added water and no reheating. The silky, smooth water that is unique to Gero Onsen wraps around your skin, letting you feel its moisture like a natural lotion. Through the large windows, you can enjoy a sweeping panorama of the vast and beautiful mountain scenery.

Observation Open-Air Bath Sankei no Yu and Hiyama no Yu

Two scenic open-air baths, Sankei no Yu and Hiyama no Yu, surrounded by nature and connected to the large public bath. From the highest point in Gero Onsen, their outstanding sense of openness lets you look out over the spa town below and the grand mountain ranges of Hida in a panoramic view. At night, you can soak in exquisite free-flowing hot spring water to your heart's content while admiring the beautiful sparkling nightscape and a sky full of stars.

Private Family Baths

Four family baths in the Taisho retro-style Western building: Ginei-sen, Furo-sen, Shippo-sen, and Tamanoi-sen. Each is finished with different retro-modern tiles and stonework, and guests staying at the inn can use them privately at any time without a reservation. Naturally, these tubs are also filled with mellow famous hot spring water straight from the source, with no added water, so you can enjoy a refined private space.
