About Sasara

"Gero Onsen Sasara" is a hot spring ryokan in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture. On the top floor of the building on the hill, there is an observation large bath with a panoramic view of the nightscape of Gero Onsen town and the Hida River. Guests can fully enjoy the silky, smooth natural hot spring water. After warming up in the dry sauna, where the gentle warmth of wood can be felt, and cooling off in the crisp, cold cold plunge bath, they can relax in the open-air area while enjoying the pleasant night breeze. At Sasara Spa, with its bedrock bath, esthetic treatments, and relaxing space surrounded by antiques, guests can forget the everyday and spend a luxurious time.

Hot SpringONSEN

Observation Large Bath

An observation large bath on the top floor of Sasara-kan. Through the large windows of the indoor bath, beautiful views of the Gero Onsen town and the clear Hida River spread out below from the elevated location, and at night you can take in the sparkling nightscape. The adjoining open-air bath has a pleasant Kiso hinoki fragrance, letting you enjoy an open, refreshing soak while surrounded by the elegant warmth of hinoki. The water has a distinctive silky texture and moisturizes the skin like a natural lotion.

Private Open-Air Rock Bath

A reservation-based private open-air bath where you can luxuriously enjoy Gero's famous hot spring in a private setting. With a bath made from natural rock surfaces, you can relax in the hot spring with a special someone without worrying about others around you. Shower facilities are also available, making it convenient and comfortable. Wrapped in the smooth, silky water, you can spend a quietly flowing, indulgent moment.

Private Open-Air Root Bath

A highly unique and luxurious private open-air bath carved out of the root of a giant tree over 700 years old. Soaking in a hot spring while feeling the warmth and presence of natural wood against your skin makes for an unforgettable experience. The alkaline, silky hot spring water harmonizes with the wooden surface, offering an even milder and more pleasant feel. Along with the rustling of the trees, you can enjoy an exquisite bath experience found only here.

Open-Air Bath in Guest Room

A private open-air bath exclusively for guest rooms, available in 20 of the 44 rooms. There are 11 types of bathing options, including hinoki, ceramic, rock, and even large-tree baths carved out of a single massive tree. You can enjoy Gero's natural hot spring water directly from the source at any time you like, right from your room. While gazing at the nightscape and the rich mountain ridgelines below, you can savor a luxurious time all to yourself.

The uniquely comforting heat of the sauna gently envelops your whole body, letting you refreshingly wash away daily fatigue along with the sweat.

A cold plunge bath located just beside the sauna in the large bath area. The crisp, chilled clear water instantly tightens a heated body and provides a refreshing cooldown. Its smooth feel on the skin lets you enjoy the sensation of a slow, silky bath. Right in front of the cold plunge bath is the open-air bath area scented with Kiso hinoki, where you can enjoy a luxurious open-air rest on a totonou chair while feeling the breeze of each season.
