About Tsutsujitei

"Tsutsujitei" is an upscale ryokan with fine dining, a secluded retreat for adults, where only ten buildings, with ten rooms in total, quietly stand on a vast site of about 5,000 tsubo in Kusatsu Town, Agatsuma District, Gunma Prefecture. Built in harmony with a natural forest garden of about 3,000 tsubo that occupies most of the grounds, it offers an utterly luxurious stay with superb kaiseki cuisine. At the large public bath, Urara no Yu, you can enjoy 100% free-flowing Bandai Kō spring water in the indoor bath and in the cypress open-air bath that blends into the rustling natural forest, and both men and women also have a full sauna. In addition, the spacious private open-air bath, Tama no Yu, reserved exclusively for overnight guests, lets you fully enjoy the famous Yubatake spring water.

Large Public Bath Urara no Yu Indoor Bath and Open-Air Bath

A large public bath available to all overnight guests. The water is 100% free-flowing Bandai Kō spring water, renowned in Kusatsu Onsen for its highest output and characterized by powerful antibacterial effects and high acidity. In addition to the modern, bright indoor bath accented with granite, there is a beautiful open-air bath made entirely of cypress, facing about 3,000 tsubo of natural forest, where you can surrender yourself to the seasonal breeze and the sounds of nature and enjoy an exquisite bath while taking in the forest atmosphere.

Private Open-Air Bath Tama no Yu

A private open-air bath available only to guests staying in the main building's Sakon no Mune wing, for a fee and by advance reservation. Unlike the Bandai Kō water in the large public bath, you can luxuriously reserve the more mellow and historically significant Yubatake spring water, which is the most venerable in Kusatsu, in a free-flowing bath. In the spacious open-air area surrounded by lush greenery as far as the eye can see, a beautifully polished cypress tub stands quietly, and the refreshing scent of cypress blended with sulfur fragrance deeply refreshes both body and mind.
