"Sakan, the Inn of a Thousand Years of Tradition" is a luxury hot spring ryokan in Akiu Onsen in Taihaku Ward, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. You can enjoy one of Japan's Three Great Healing Hot Springs in a variety of baths, including open-air baths with free-flowing hot spring water along the Natori River and a large public bath recreated to evoke the bathing of Date Masamune. In 2023, the first-floor large bath in Kagetsukan was renovated, introducing a dry sauna with aut löyly, a steam sauna, and an outdoor cold plunge bath. The fusion of historic hot spring therapy culture and sophisticated modern sauna facilities offers the ultimate in relaxation.

Large Public Bath

A large public bath where you can enjoy the famous Akiu hot spring, counted among Japan's Three Great Healing Hot Springs, in a variety of baths. You can soak in the hot spring in spaces with different atmospheres, such as "Natori no Yu," characterized by the scent of Japanese cypress and latticework evoking the bathing of Date Masamune, and "Kagetsukan 1st Floor Large Bath," renovated in 2023 and equipped with a deep bath and a silk bath. The mildly silky chloride spring offers excellent heat retention and moisturizing effects, warming you to the core.

Riverbank Bath

A free-flowing open-air bath nestled along a mountain stream, overlooking the Natori River below. With its thatched roof creating the atmosphere of a hidden hot spring, you can enjoy bathing while feeling the murmur of the river and the rustle of the leaves up close. Plenty of fresh, therapeutic hot spring water as it comes from the source, with no added water or heating, flows into the bath, allowing you to spend a luxurious time that makes you feel united with nature.

A low-temperature, high-humidity steam sauna in the Kagetsukan first-floor large bath. The gently rising fine warm steam envelops your entire body, allowing you to warm up slowly without placing strain on your body. It is excellent for improving circulation and moisturizing the skin, letting you sink into a deep state of relaxation while feeling pleasantly hydrated.

Kagetsukan 1st Floor Outdoor Cold Plunge Bath

An outdoor cold plunge bath installed in the open-air area of the Kagetsukan first-floor large bath. With convenient access from the sauna room, the crisp, refreshing water quickly cools down a body overheated to the limit in the sauna. Letting yourself sink into the water while feeling Akiu's clear and pleasant outdoor air leads you into a refreshing state of totonou.
