Shizuoka Higashiizu Town

Stay in Atagawa Onsen

An onsen resort in Higashiizu Town, Shizuoka Prefecture, where inns line the slopes overlooking Sagami Bay. It is said to have been discovered by Ōta Dōkan during the Muromachi period. Abundant spring water gushes forth, and the sight of steam rising from all over town has become one of its signature attractions. There is even a crocodile park that uses the heat. Inns are clustered within walking distance of the Izukyū Line station, and from the baths you can see as far as Izu Ōshima.
