Bessho Onsen

An ancient hot spring town said to be the oldest in Shinshu, surrounded by old temples in the Shiodadaira area, known as the "Kamakura of Shinshu." It is said to have been beloved by writers and poets since the Heian period, and according to legend it was visited by Prince Yamato Takeru. Soft simple sulfur spring water with a faint sulfur scent wells up here, and you can visit three public bathhouses while also exploring sites such as the National Treasure eight-sided three-tier pagoda.
