“Biwako Ryokusuitei” is a resort-style onsen ryokan nestled on the shores of Lake Biwa in Ogoto Onsen, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. In the large public bath, both men and women can enjoy Ogoto Onsen, known for 1200 years as the “beauty-skin hot spring.” In the open-air area, a genuine barrel sauna made with Scandinavian wood has been introduced, offering views of Lake Biwa from inside the sauna room, along with self löyly using premium hojicha tea and a cold water bath. With a foot bath in a beautiful water-mirror-like courtyard and a library where after-bath drinks are free, the facility offers amenities that soothe all five senses.

Ogoto Onsen is a famous hot spring with 1200 years of history. Its source has a high alkaline level of pH9 or above, and the water feels moist, soft, and pleasantly familiar to the skin. When you bathe in it, it gently envelops your skin and thoroughly eases daily fatigue and stiffness from deep within. In addition to a beautiful open-air large bath, the property also offers a courtyard foot bath that is highly photogenic, as well as rooms with open-air baths on the terrace, where you can enjoy the famous spring privately anytime, 24 hours a day.

An authentic barrel sauna made with Scandinavian wood, newly opened in the open-air bath area. Its rounded shape allows the heat and steam from löyly to circulate effectively. Self löyly is available, and you can enjoy comfortable sweating together with richly aromatic hojicha tea and other aromas. Free rental of sauna hats and mats is also provided. From the sauna room window, you can take in a beautiful panoramic view of the shining Lake Biwa and savor a luxurious moment.

A pleasant, cool tsubo-style cold water bath prepared just steps from the barrel sauna. It gently embraces a body warmed to its limit in the sauna and helps you cool down refreshingly. The attractive flow in the open-air area lets you complete the sequence from sauna to cold water bath to outdoor air bath in one place, and you can fully enjoy the ultimate totonou experience while feeling the calm lake breeze blowing in from Lake Biwa.
