“Atami-Izusan Karaku” is a ryokan in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture, with open-air hot spring baths in every room. On the 7th-floor observatory large bath, there is an infinity open-air bath where the water surface feels as if it continues seamlessly into Sagami Bay. By day, you can have the shimmering seascape all to yourself, and by night, the moonlit water surface sways softly before your eyes. The spring water, containing sulfate and chloride, is gentle and leaves the skin smooth, and after bathing you can also refresh body and mind in the sauna and cold bath available for both men and women. Inside the building, there is a top-floor water terrace with a foot bath overlooking Sagami Bay, a guest lounge with sea views, a spa, and a gym, offering a stay that has been selected for two consecutive years for 1 Michelin Key.

Large public bath
An observatory large public bath on the 7th floor. Step outside from the glass-walled indoor bath, and an infinity open-air bath awaits, where the water surface seems to merge seamlessly with Sagami Bay. The spring water, containing sulfate and chloride, is smooth and mellow, leaving a warmth that lingers and helps prevent you from getting cold after bathing. By day, the ocean sparkles in the light; by night, the water surface ripples in the moonlight. As the scenery changes from moment to moment, your sense of time gently dissolves away.
Open-air bath in the guest room
A private open-air hot spring bath installed on the balcony of every guest room. You can sink into the water whenever you like, for as long as you like, without worrying about anyone else’s eyes. Below, Sagami Bay stretches out before you, and while soaking, you can have the rising light from the horizon in the morning and the sea surface reflecting the moon at night all to yourself. On the balcony, where only the sound of the waves reaches you, the time of your journey deepens quietly.

Smoke sauna
A smoke sauna installed in each men’s and women’s large public bath. Inside the wood-lined room, a faintly smoky, savory aroma drifts through the air, and from the moment the door closes, the outside world feels far away. It is equipped with automatic löyly, and the gentle heat, softened at the edges, slowly seeps deep into the body.
Dry sauna
A dry sauna adjacent to the men’s large public bath. The dry heat reaches the skin directly, and as you sit upright, sweat begins to pour out without end. In the quiet room surrounded by wood, there is no unnecessary sound, only your own breathing remains. At this inn far away from everyday life, it is a time when you can focus solely on facing the heat.
Steam sauna
A steam sauna adjacent to the women’s large public bath. Fine steam fills the room in white, gently enveloping the skin while slowly delivering heat deep into the body. With mild warmth that does not feel suffocating, you can remain inside for a long time without worrying about your hair or skin drying out. As sweat quietly begins to appear, stiffness gradually eases away.

- About 2 hours from Tokyo (Nihonbashi) via Atsugi IC on the Tomei Expressway → Odawara-Atsugi Road → Seisho Bypass Ishibashi IC → Route 135
- From the Nagoya area, about 40 minutes via Numazu IC on the Tomei Expressway → Izu Jukan Road Daira-Kannami → Atami Ume Line / Route 135
By train and bus
- Tokyo Station → Tokaido Shinkansen Hikari about 35 minutes (Kodama about 50 minutes) → Atami Station → about 7 minutes by taxi or shuttle
- Tokyo Station → Limited Express Odoriko about 1 hour 20 minutes → Atami Station → about 7 minutes by taxi or shuttle
- Shin-Osaka Station → Tokaido Shinkansen Hikari about 2 hours 20 minutes → Atami Station
Shuttle
- Free shuttle available from Atami Station (advance reservation, first come first served). About 7 minutes
- Departs every 30 minutes from 13:30 to 16:30. For the return trip, please ask at check-in
