A long-established sauna with powerful auto-löyly and self-löyly scented with hojicha
"New Japan EX" is a men-only sauna and capsule hotel in Yagenbori, a bustling district in Hiroshima City’s Naka Ward. Loved for over 50 years, it features a far-infrared sauna with powerful auto-löyly, a Finnish sauna where you can do self-löyly with hojicha and other infusions, and a yomogi mist sauna, plus a refreshing cold bath where fresh water is continuously poured in like a flow-through spring. It also has two types of artificial hot-spring public baths, making it the perfect place to refresh and unwind.
This "semi-natural Komeiseki Onsen" uses the natural mineral stone Komeiseki as its main water source. The ionized, gentle water wraps your body softly, promotes circulation, and helps ease daily fatigue, stiff shoulders, and sensitivity to the cold. The water feels extremely smooth on the skin, and its warmth lasts long after you get out.
This "Futamata Carbonate Calcium Onsen" uses the hot-spring deposit from Futamata Onsen, a famous spring in Oshamanbe, Hokkaido. Its heavy, warming water is the highlight, and its abundant calcium carbonate content heats the body from deep within. It helps prevent you from cooling down too quickly after bathing, making it ideal for soothing a tired body after business trips or sightseeing.
This "Far-Infrared Auto-löyly Sauna" is equipped with an Izness stove and releases powerful auto-löyly and blasts of hot air every hour. The large volume of steam instantly raises the room temperature, surrounding your entire body in intense heat. Enjoy the charm of Showa-era-style powerful heat, along with an exceptional hot-air experience that encourages a waterfall-like sweat through auto-löyly.
The "Finnish Sauna" is a calm, bright wooden space where you can work up a good sweat at your own pace. Self-löyly is available, and when you pour hojicha, herbal water, or similar infusions onto the sauna stones, soft steam fills the room with a toasty, refreshing aroma. Despite the mild temperature setting, the high humidity warms you pleasantly from the inside out.
The "Yomogi Mist Sauna" is filled with the rich fragrance of natural mugwort. Gentle yet powerful warm mist wraps your whole body in moisture, soothing the respiratory system while gradually encouraging perspiration. With the added benefits of mugwort’s aromatic properties, it offers a herbal mist experience that gently relieves both body and mind.
The "cold bath" is generously filled at all times with fresh, clean water. The crisp, chilly temperature firmly envelops your heated body after the sauna, cooling you down at once with a pleasant feel against the skin. The water flow keeps the perceived temperature low, and after getting out, you can spend the ultimate totonou time in the reclining chairs or seats inside the bath area.
