Saga Tara Town
A bathhouse in Tara where stunning views of Ariake Sea meet a two-tier sauna experience
A bathing facility inside the hot spring inn Taranotake Onsen Kanigoten in Tara Town, Fujitsu District, Saga Prefecture. It features a full-ocean-view large bath overlooking Ariake Sea and Mount Fujien, plus two signature saunas: the Graviy Sauna, carved from solid spruce wood, and the Grid Sauna, the first in Japan to use an AINO heater. The deep cold plunge bath, filled with free-flowing natural spring water from the Tara mountain range, has a unique design that lets you enter while standing. Relaxing on the terrace with the sea breeze and totonou as the town of the moon’s gravitational pull reveals breathtaking views is an experience unique to this place.

A weakly alkaline cold mineral spring that rises from the foot of Mount Tara. It is colorless, transparent, odorless, and tasteless, yet the water feels soft and gentle on the skin. The bathwater, filling tubs made of bluish Towada stone, creates a quiet beauty reminiscent of the sea. In the large panoramic bath, which faces the ebb and flow of Ariake Sea and Mount Fujien, you can soak at leisure while enjoying the scenery. The hot spring gently balances the circulation boosted by sauna and the cold plunge bath, and may help with neuralgia, frozen shoulder, chronic digestive pain, sensitivity to cold, and recovery from fatigue. After bathing, your body stays warm from the core and a deep sense of relaxation lingers.

A warm, inviting space crafted by artisans who hand-carve each piece of solid spruce wood from trees aged 350 to 400 years. Surrounded by the scent of wood, you can freely control the heat and steam to your liking with self-löyly. The moderate temperature lets you sit for a long time and slowly work up a good sweat. The natural warmth of wood and the gentle heat envelop your entire body, bringing deep relaxation. While gazing out at the spectacular view of Ariake Sea, you can spend a luxurious, quiet moment alone with your thoughts.

An original design made by precisely combining spruce wood into a lattice pattern with 20 mm diameter pieces. With the Japan-first low-load sauna heater AINO, it warms you deeply from within while keeping the strain on your body low at a relatively moderate temperature. You can adjust the heat and steam with self-löyly, and the spectacular view of Ariake Sea opens up through the lattice. This is an innovative space that offers a new experiential way to enjoy sauna.

A deep cold plunge bath on the terrace, designed for standing entry. You can soak comfortably up to your shoulders while facing Ariake Sea, giving it a very different impression from a typical cold bath. It uses the soft natural spring water from underground in the Tara mountain range, so the cold never feels harsh or sharp, making it something you will want to savor slowly together with the scenery. After getting out, you can move straight into an outdoor air bath with the sea breeze, spending a rest period that feels as if you are entrusting your body to the sky and sea.

A deep cold plunge bath located indoors on the 1F. The standing-entry style is the same as on the 2F, and it is easy to immerse yourself fully up to the shoulders. It has the soft touch of underground natural spring water from the Tara mountain range, and while it quickly settles the body, its appeal lies in the pleasant feel of the water itself. The flow to and from the Grid Sauna is smooth, making it easy to cool down comfortably after gently receiving the heat.
