Shinme no Yu is a day-use onsen bathhouse in Tado, Kuwana, Mie Prefecture. Its simple alkaline spring water rises from deep underground and wraps the skin softly, excellent for beautifying the skin and for retaining warmth. The far-infrared sauna has six tiers of benches, so you can choose your temperature, and after a long sweat you can cool down as you like in two cold plunges, at 9°C (48°F) and 18°C (64°F). From the panoramic open-air bath you look out over central Kuwana and the Nobi Plain, and on clear days the view reaches as far as the high-rises around Nagoya Station. The warm-stone area Mangan offers löyly, steam and projection rooms, and the restaurant Miumaya serves dishes made with Mie produce.

A warm-stone area named after Mangan, a monk who once built a bathhouse on this land. Men and women use it together, in the wear provided. It offers a range of healing spaces: the löyly warm-stone room, where aroma water poured over the lava stones in the center sends out waves of heat; the steam warm-stone room, where fine mist billowing from a great cauldron spreads like a sea of clouds; and the projection warm-stone room, with beautiful travel footage and yoga. Hot steam, dreamlike mist and soothing music work on all five senses, offering a blissful detox experience that deeply restores body and mind.
