About Akabiru no Yu – Machikado Yukatsu Salon

Akabiru no Yu is a day bathhouse in Kure, Hiroshima Prefecture. A sento with a history going back to the mid-Taisho era has been renovated in a modern style and reborn as the Machikado Yukatsu Salon, a street-corner bathing salon at once old and new. Alongside baths each with its own character – shallow, deep and electric – there is a proper dry sauna fragrant with Japanese-grown hinoki and an unusual cold plunge with shallows you can lie down in. After bathing, you can relax in the clean changing room, with Hollywood-style lighted mirrors and ReFa hair dryers, or in the sofa area with ice cream and drinks. The same building also houses an internet café and rooms to stay in, so you can spend anything from a spare moment to a whole day as you like.
