Shizuoka Shizuoka City
The rustling of leaves, the songs of birds, and the passing breeze. A satoyama bath that soothes all five senses in a large open space created by a wooden hand-built log construction method.
Fukisarashi-yu is a day-use bathing facility in the Takumi-juku area, centered around Sunpu no Kobo Takumi-juku, a large-scale traditional craft experience facility in Suruga Ward, Shizuoka City. The most striking feature is the exposed ceiling beams. These beams, part of the wooden bathhouse structure known as a mokuzou kenchiku yuden, were handed down from Matsunoyu in Suruga Ward Kamimaize, a long-loved bathhouse that was sadly closed after many years, and given new life here. Things that were on the verge of disappearing have been transformed and carried forward in a new form.

An authentic sauna with a Harvia stove from Finland at its center. With self löyly, the rich steam gently envelops the room and warms you thoroughly from the core of your body. Through the large window in the sauna room, you can take in a panoramic view of the satoyama, creating a luxurious space where you can quietly face yourself in silence.

A luxurious cold plunge bath with a water depth of 110 cm, using skin-friendly soft water and deep enough to submerge your whole head. The mellow, refreshing texture of the water is irresistibly soothing, gently wrapping around the skin. In the deep tub, you can cool down your whole body all at once, and the breeze flowing above from the satoyama adds a profound sense of relaxation.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
