About Yamatoya Honten

A long-established onsen ryokan founded in 1868, located right next to Dogo Onsen Honkan. In a refined, traditional Japanese setting built in the sukiya style, you can enjoy soft hot spring water drawn from the same source as Dogo Onsen Honkan. The men's bath features a rugged indoor bath set with Iyo Oshima stone, while the women's bath offers an indoor bath fragrant with cypress and a pot-shaped bath carved from Oshima stone, among other distinctive bathing spaces. After your soak, you can enjoy complimentary and refined Dogo-style hospitality at Yamatoya-stand, which includes a sake bar and a dagashi bar.

Hot SpringONSEN

Dogo Onsen

A historic famous hot spring that draws water from the same source as Dogo Onsen Honkan. The gentle feel of its alkaline simple hot spring water softly relieves the fatigue of travel. You can fully enjoy the waters of Dogo in carefully designed bathing spaces, including an indoor bath wrapped in the scent of cypress, a rustic rock open-air bath, and a pot bath carved from Iyo Oshima stone. After bathing, your skin feels smooth, and you can also feel its excellent warming effect.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
