About Yamatoya Besso

"Yamatoya Besso" is a long-established ryokan in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture. Works by literary figures and artists, including Masaoka Shiki, are displayed throughout the building, giving the interior the atmosphere of a small art museum. In the public bath, guests can enjoy the soft, gentle water drawn from the spring of Dogo Onsen, said to be Japan's oldest hot spring. In the garden-view open-air bath and the indoor bath made of granite, you can savor a blissful moment while feeling the changing seasons. After bathing, complimentary draft beer and ice pops are also available, making for an exceptional stay that satisfies both body and mind.

A gentle alkaline simple spring blended from source water drawn from the various public wells in Dogo. It is colorless, clear, and has a smooth feel on the skin, making it popular as a beauty hot spring.
