Meito Resort Lucent Takamiya is an onsen resort hotel in Zao Onsen, in the city of Yamagata, Yamagata Prefecture. Even within Zao Onsen, with its 1,900-year history, its strongly acidic, milky-white sulfur spring stands out, and here it can be enjoyed fed straight from the source, never recirculated. Alongside the rock-built indoor bath Komorebi-no-Yu, the open-air bath Hagakure-no-Yu, where you feel the sunlight filtering through the trees, and a final rinse bath fragrant with wood, there is also a dry sauna for a long, slow sweat. The private baths allow a soak all to yourself. You can taste regional home cooking made with local produce, and the location right in front of the Zao Ropeway makes it a convenient base for outdoor activities.
