About Yoshikawaya

"Okiizaka Anabara Onsen Yoshikawaya" is a long-established hot spring ryokan in Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture, with a history spanning more than 180 years. Set along the Surikami River gorge, its large public baths and open-air baths offer sweeping views of Mount Katakura, whose scenery changes beautifully with the seasons. The mildly alkaline simple spring water from its own source feels exceptionally smooth on the skin and is beloved as a beauty bath, making it ideal for a baby's first hot spring experience. Each of the men's and women's large public baths is also equipped with a full-scale dry sauna in a calm setting with the warmth of wood. Enjoy an exquisite bath and a refreshing break while listening to the murmuring of the river.

Hot SpringONSEN

Large Public Bath Benten no Yu

A large public bath named after Benzaiten, the goddess of the river. It features a spacious stone indoor bath and a hinoki cypress bath that is ideal for refreshing yourself, allowing you to enjoy the inn's own source in whichever tub you prefer. The open-air bath, Kamishika no Yu, is a free-flowing spring bath that strongly reflects Japanese aesthetics. While taking in the view of the majestic cliffs of Mount Katakura across the river and the scenery of the Surikami River, you can enjoy the luxury of soaking in a silky, soft bath.

Large Public Bath Ta no Yu

A large public bath named after a local legend about the opening of the hot spring. Its defining feature is an expansive indoor bath measuring about 16 m in length, giving it a sense of spacious scale and allowing guests to stretch out and relax comfortably. The open-air bath, Saruami no Yu, is a wild and open tub with rocks arranged throughout. As you listen to the gentle murmur of the Surikami River right at your ear, you can savor a profound sense of unity with nature, surrounded by rich forest.

Private Bath of the Goddess YUNO

A luxurious private bath where you can exclusively enjoy two tubs, an indoor bath and an open-air bath. With a completely barrier-free design and no steps at all, it is safe and accessible, allowing guests to move to the open-air bath while seated, and it is also equipped with a wheelchair-accessible toilet. You can relax in private and enjoy the inn's own beautiful spring water while taking in the seasonal natural beauty of Mount Katakura with family or a group, without worrying about anyone else.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
