About Yumoto Koganeyu Onsen

"Yumoto Koganeyu Onsen" is a long-established hot spring inn in Sapporo, Hokkaido, founded in 1883. The historic bathwater, watched over by a katsura tree that is about 750 years old, is a mildly alkaline simple sulfur spring with a faint sulfur aroma, and it has long been loved as a "beauty bath." The large public bath features a wealth of distinctive amenities, including a sauna with luxurious double stoves made by HARVIA, a hinoki-scented auto löyly sauna, and a mist sauna that generates negative ions. It offers a restorative bathing experience for the mind, including enjoying "Koganebokko" (basking in the sun) while looking up at the mountains from the shallow outdoor bath.

Since opening in 1883, Koganeyu Onsen has been cherished as a historic, familiar place for therapeutic bathing. The hot spring, which gushes forth as if protected by a katsura tree that is about 750 years old, is a mildly alkaline simple sulfur spring with a faint sulfur aroma. The water is extremely smooth, leaving the skin soft after bathing, and it is renowned as a "beauty bath." In the open-air bath, you can experience "Koganebokko," a restorative soak for the mind, while gazing up at the mountains in a pleasant breeze.

An aroma sauna in the men's large public bath, luxuriously equipped with two CILINDRO stoves made by HARVIA. In the quiet room without a TV, the U-shaped benches spread out, allowing you to focus deeply on the sauna. Staff regularly carry out löyly using herbs and aromatic water, filling the room with pleasant steam, heat, and fresh fragrance for an exceptional sweating experience.

Another sauna in the men's large public bath. High-quality hinoki is used throughout the walls, floor, and benches, and the moment you open the door, a clean, refreshing hinoki aroma fills the air and deeply relaxes both body and mind. Equipped with a Metos convection stove, it offers a comfortable space where you can watch TV while gently and gradually enveloped in warm, moist heat through regular auto löyly.

Women's

A newly renovated auto löyly sauna in the women's large public bath, powered by a Metos stove. Its unique design, with entry from the height of the second level, raises the perceived temperature so that warmth reaches all the way to your feet. On the spacious bench with plenty of depth, you can comfortably and thoroughly enjoy sweating while being wrapped in the pleasant, moist heat of regularly automated löyly.

Mist Sauna

Women's

A mist sauna in the women's large public bath, filled with gentle vapor in the form of fine mist. The room temperature is set mildly, but the high humidity encourages sweating comparable to that of a high-temperature sauna. The seating incorporates black silica that generates negative ions, and you can also enjoy a foot bath at the same time. This is a healing sauna that places little strain on the body while gently warming you from the feet up and deep within.

The large public bath includes Koganeyu's ice-cold cold plunge bath. It pleasantly and evenly wraps and tightens your body after you have fully warmed up in the sauna or in the beauty-enhancing simple sulfur spring. The water has a mellow quality, with a sharp coldness that still feels like it blends naturally into the skin, creating a clean, refreshing sensation. The smooth flow toward the outdoor bathing area for a pleasant open-air bath in the fresh air (Koganebokko) is also a highlight.
