About Kinugawa Onsen Asaya

Kinugawa Onsen Asaya is a long-established hot spring ryokan in Nikkō, Tochigi Prefecture, with a history of over 130 years. It draws generously from its own private spring, Kodakara no Yu, and the open-air bath in the sky garden on the 13th floor of Shuho-kan offers a breathtaking view of the mountains along the Kinugawa River and a sky full of stars. The property features a well-rounded bathing area, including the auto-löyly sauna newly added in 2025, as well as a Finland sauna and a nano mist sauna. It also offers private baths that feel like exclusive rooms, along with guest rooms with hot spring baths, allowing guests to enjoy a luxurious private onsen experience.

Hot SpringONSEN

Large Bath, Asaya Source

The private source, Asaya Spring (Kodakara no Yu), can be enjoyed in the large baths of Shuho-kan and Hachiban-kan. Its gentle feel on the skin comes from an alkaline simple hot spring that wraps the body softly. Long known as a famous spring associated with the saying, "Brought by burns, lost by injury, healed in Kawaji," it is expected to be especially effective for fatigue recovery, beautiful skin, and improving poor circulation. In the spacious tubs, you can luxuriate in the historical hot spring of Kinugawa and fully savor a truly indulgent time.

Sky Garden Open-Air Bath, Shoryu no Yu

Located on the 13th floor of Shuho-kan, this is the highest open-air bath in Kinugawa Onsen. While soaking in the private spring, you can gaze out at the mountains of Kinugawa spreading before you, the clear sky, and at night, a sky full of stars. In an overwhelming sense of openness, you can feel the breeze and be soothed by a famous hot spring, making for a supreme bathing experience that can only be enjoyed here.

This is an exquisite private spa where you can enjoy the hot spring to your heart’s content without interruption, while taking in the beauty of the Kinugawa valley and the pleasant breeze.
