About Otanisanso

Otanisanso is a stately luxury hot spring ryokan standing along the Otozure River in Nagato Yumoto Onsen, Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The famous spring, which has flowed since the Muromachi period, boasts a pH of 9.67 and is renowned as an exquisite beauty bath that gently leaves the skin feeling refreshed. There are two baths facing the river, Seseragi no Yu on the first floor and Komorebi no Yu on the second floor, each featuring a hinoki open-air bath, a rock open-air bath, and a jacuzzi. The property also offers a full-scale dry sauna with windows overlooking the beautiful garden, as well as a cold plunge bath. Some rooms are equipped with open-air baths fed directly by the source, promising an exceptional stay alongside superb kaiseki cuisine.

Seseragi no Yu (1st floor)

A large bath on the first floor surrounded by rich nature, overlooking the Otozure River. Nagato Yumoto Onsen, which has flowed continuously since the Muromachi period, boasts an astonishingly alkaline pH of 9.67 and is an exquisite beauty bath that gently cleanses the skin. In addition to two open-air baths, Hinoki Open-Air Bath and Rock Open-Air Bath, enveloped in the greenery of the trees and the murmur of the river, there is also a spacious indoor bath, a reclining bath, and a jacuzzi. The softly alkaline water warms the body gradually from deep within.

Komorebi no Yu (2nd floor)

A large bath on the second floor where the river breeze passes through and soft sunlight filters in. The alkaline simple hot spring water is gentle on the body and less likely to cause hot-spring fatigue, making it safe for everyone from babies to elderly guests. In addition to the spacious indoor bath, there is a variety of bathing options, including a semi-open-air bath with a refreshing breeze brushing your cheeks, a reclining bath, an herbal bath, and a jacuzzi. With your gaze turned to the distance and the sound of the Otozure River in your ears, you can savor a luxurious, timeless escape from everyday life.

A dry sauna installed in both large bath areas, Seseragi no Yu on the first floor and Komorebi no Yu on the second floor. The sauna room in Seseragi no Yu has a large window, allowing guests to enjoy a quiet, relaxing moment while looking out at the beautifully maintained garden. The low humidity and relatively high temperature create a pleasant environment that encourages a steady sweat. Sauna mats are available free of charge and kept clean. Surrounded by luxurious nature, you can refresh yourself and further enhance the effects of the hot spring.

A convenient cold plunge bath located right near the sauna room. Fresh tap water is poured in, with the temperature changing by season, allowing you to cool down efficiently after sauna use. Soaking in the cold water after fully warming up in the sauna brings an exceptional sense of freshness and sharpens both body and mind. In the open-air area along the river that you move to afterward, you can enjoy an exceptionally serene outdoor bath experience unique to a luxury ryokan, feeling the clear air and the sound of the river all over your body.
