About Lake Saroma Tsuruga Resort
Lake Saroma Tsuruga Resort is a resort hotel in Kitami, Hokkaido. It has two main bathhouses that look out across Lake Saroma: a rustic Japanese-style one set with massive boulders, and a modern, refined Nordic-style one, with the men’s and women’s sides switching daily. The onsen water comes from the hotel’s own source, Wakka-no-Yu, an exceptionally rare iron-bearing chloride spring whose iron and salt soak deep into the body, and it is prized as a “heat spring” for how well it keeps you warm. A simple dry sauna, a bracingly cold plunge and a front-row cool-down spot facing Lake Saroma, where you can reach totonou (a state of deep, calm relaxation), bring the finest kind of rest.

A main bathhouse with a rustic garden open-air bath set with massive boulders and an indoor bath with the quiet charm of traditional Japan. Welling up from underground, the hotel’s own source, Wakka-no-Yu, is a rare iron-bearing chloride spring rich in iron and salt. It keeps you so warm that it is also called the “heat spring,” and the glow lasts long after you step out. You can soak at leisure while gazing out over the sweeping scenery of Lake Saroma.
Nordic-style main bathhouse
A wide-open main bathhouse with a modern, refined design. From both the indoor bath and the open-air bath you can take in the beauty of Lake Saroma and its sunsets, in moments of bliss that feel at one with the wild landscape. Water from the hotel’s own source, rich in iron, seeps gently into the skin and softly eases away the fatigue of everyday life.
