About Mikamiso Takamiya

"Mikamiso Takamiya" is a long-established hot spring ryokan in Zao Onsen, Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture, founded in 1716. Its naturally gushing private source spring can be enjoyed as 100% free-flowing, undiluted, and unheated hot spring water, luxuriously in cloudy bathwater. The property features nine distinctive baths, including the wooden bathhouse Chojyu no Yu, which preserves the atmosphere of a historic therapeutic spa, and Seseragi no Yu, a modern bath where you can hear the murmuring of the Sukawa River. In a space steeped in the atmosphere of 300 years of history, you can spend an exquisite moment of relaxation embraced by a truly superb hot spring.

Large Public Bath Chojyu no Yu

A traditional wooden large public bath that retains the atmosphere of a historic therapeutic spa. It has a unique structure where you descend stairs from the changing room to enter the bath. The private source spring is used in its fully free-flowing form, allowing you to enjoy a beautiful milky cloudy bath with yunohana drifting up from the bottom of the tub. With the refreshing feel that is unique to a strongly acidic spring, this famous bath warms you to the core and offers sterilizing and skin-beautifying benefits, all to be enjoyed at leisure in a tranquil setting.

Seseragi no Yu

A large public bath with a contemporary, modern design. It features a luxurious stone bath made with Zao stone, a hinoki bath with a gentle aroma of cypress, and an open-air bucket bath where you can feel the breeze. While listening to the murmuring of the nearby Sukawa River, you can enjoy a relaxing bath. This superb bathing space combines the rich blessings of 100% free-flowing milky cloudy hot spring water with a modern atmosphere.
