About Miyamaso Takamiya

Miyamaso Takamiya is an onsen inn in Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture. Founded in 1716, the first year of the Kyoho era, this long-established inn has watched over Zao for 300 years. Its own spring wells up in abundance, and its strongly acidic, sulfur-bearing water flows into all nine baths in the building straight from the source, never recirculated. From Choju-no-Yu, where black-lacquered board walls speak of its history, to Seseragi-no-Yu, where you can listen to the murmur of the river, you can enjoy genuine onsen water in baths of different character. There is also a private bath of Shigaraki ware and a room with its own open-air bath fed straight from the source, for a luxurious soak in privacy. Held in the nature of the deep mountains, you can spend blissful moments that make you forget everyday life.
