About Ochiairo
"Ochiairo" is a hot spring ryokan in Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, registered as a tangible cultural property. It features five distinct saunas, including a tea-room sauna selected for Saunashuran and a barrel sauna standing on the banks of the Kano River, offering a luxurious relaxation experience in the midst of nature. It prides itself on free-flowing natural hot spring water from a calcium-sodium sulfate spring, and you can fully enjoy the "skin-beautifying bath" in the cave bath or the open-air bath overlooking the mountain stream. Hot SpringONSEN
Tengu no Yu
A mixed-bathing thermal spring featuring an open-air bath overlooking the mountains of Izu and the Kano River, as well as a cave bath enveloped in steam. With free-flowing natural hot spring water from a calcium-sodium sulfate spring, it offers excellent moisturizing effects and is beloved as a "skin-beautifying bath." In the spacious setting, you can fully savor bathing while feeling the breath of nature.
Tsuki no Yu
An indoor bath in a relaxed space with sunlight filtering through the trees. With free-flowing natural hot spring water from a calcium-sodium sulfate spring, its gentle texture wraps your skin softly. In this quiet space, you can spend a blissful moment warming yourself to the core while feeling the changing seasons.
Hoshi no Yu

The greenery visible from the windows, the sound of the river, and the passing breeze come together to create an extraordinary yet warmly soothing relaxation experience.
SaunaSAUNA
Tea-room sauna
A sauna themed after a tea room, created by a leading figure in the industry. With its tasteful design selected for Saunashuran, it offers a serene moment where you can feel the spirit of Japanese aesthetics in silence. A premium relaxation space where soft heat gently warms your entire body.
Tengu sauna
A sauna designed with hot spring water flowing into it, delivering exceptionally high moisturizing effects. The walls are lined with hinoki cypress, allowing you to relax deeply while surrounded by a rich woody fragrance. A special space where you can also enjoy the rugged natural view of the Kano River.
Star sauna
A square-type barrel sauna installed at Hoshi no Yu. It uses thermowood from Estonia in Northern Europe, filling the room with a savory, deep aroma. As you sense nature’s breath, gentle heat slowly warms you from the feet all the way to your core.
Barrel sauna
A riverside barrel sauna nestled right on the banks of the Kano River. Self-löyly sets, vihta, and aroma oils are provided, so you can customize your sauna session with your preferred humidity and fragrance. After the sauna, step into the river right in front of you and experience a wild, invigorating totonou in the great outdoors.
Irori sauna
An irori sauna set in the private space of the Ochiairo annex Shakunage. In an interior soothed by the scent of wood and gentle lighting, calm heat spreads through your whole body as if gathered around an irori hearth. It promises a special refreshment time undisturbed by anyone.

Riverside cold plunge bath
A dynamic cold plunge bath that makes direct use of the natural river water flowing right in front of the barrel sauna. Cool your heated body comfortably with the river’s clear water, then enjoy outdoor bathing while feeling the crisp air by the riverside. Its overwhelming sense of refreshment and unity with nature is part of its charm.
Cold plunge bath
The cold plunge baths attached to each sauna use plenty of natural river water nurtured by Izu’s rich landscape. The clear water gently envelops your body, heated to the limit in the sauna, cooling you down all at once with a pleasant chill. Its smooth, soft feel on the skin is a hallmark of natural water, and after getting out, you can enjoy blissful outdoor bathing while feeling the murmuring of the Kano River and the rustling of the trees, as if becoming one with nature.
