About Kyukamura Ohkunoshima

"Kyukamura Ohkunoshima" is a resort hotel in Takehara, Hiroshima Prefecture. It is the only lodging on an island in the Seto Inland Sea, and the property features two observation baths of different sizes fed by natural radium hot spring water from Seto Onsen. The simple weak radioactive cold mineral spring contains radon, and its gentle water wraps around the body while slowly easing away stiffness. Beyond the windows, the islands of the Seto Inland Sea layer upon layer into the distance, and from the west-side bath you can soak while watching the sunset sink into the sea. Because it is open from early morning until late at night, you can enjoy the water repeatedly throughout your stay, whether in the quiet of morning, at dusk, or for one last bath before bed. All guest rooms face south and overlook the sea, and day-use bathing is also available.

Hot SpringONSEN

Large public bath

The spring water is a simple weak radioactive cold mineral spring, a natural radium hot spring containing radon. There are two observation baths, both separated by gender. The water has a soft, rounded feel on the skin, with warmth lingering gently and continuing after you leave the bath. From the larger bath, you can look out over a tropical-style plaza lined with palm trees, while from the other you can see islands of the Seto Inland Sea layered one after another. In the latter bath on the west side, you can soak while facing the sunset sinking directly into the sea. It is open from early morning until late at night, letting you slowly enjoy the changing light and shifting expressions of the sea from inside the bath throughout the day.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
