About Kyukamura Tateyama

"Kyukamura Tateyama" is an ocean-view hot spring resort hotel in Tateyama City, Chiba Prefecture. Standing by the seashore of Minamiboso Quasi-National Park, its large public bath is framed entirely in glass, opening up a sweeping view across Tateyama Bay toward the Miura Peninsula and the Tanzawa mountain range, and on clear days all the way to Mount Fuji. In the open-air bath extending out toward the sea, you can soak in the natural hot spring while listening to the sound of the waves, with the evening sky and a sky full of stars painting the surface of the water. All guest rooms face the ocean, and the restaurant also overlooks Mirror Bay. There are also ways to enjoy the seaside nature, such as stargazing sessions at the observatory equipped with a telescope and tide-pooling and rock-pool play on the beach right in front of the hotel.

Hot SpringONSEN

Large Public Bath

The spring quality is sodium-chloride and sodium bicarbonate cold mineral spring, hypotonic, alkaline, and cold mineral spring. The fully glass-walled indoor bath is bright, like a living picture of Tateyama Bay's seascape, and the deeper you sink into the water, the more your view merges with the horizon. In the open-air bath set out toward the sea, you can bathe while wrapped in the sea breeze and the sound of the waves, with views of the Miura Peninsula, Mt. Nokogiri, the Southern Alps, and, when conditions are right, Mount Fuji. The official list of benefits includes relief from neuralgia, sensitivity to cold, and fatigue recovery, and at sunset and on starry nights, this bath offers scenery that is uniquely its own.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
