An onsen area in the mountains along the Kiso River in Nagiso Town, Nagano Prefecture, where inns are scattered throughout the area. Nearby is Tsumago-juku, which flourished as a post town on the Nakasendo and still preserves its Edo-period streetscape of stone-paved roads and lattice-fronted houses. The water has a soft, gentle feel on the skin. Surrounded by forests of Kiso hinoki, it offers easy access to scenery of water and woodland, including the Momosuke Bridge and Kakizore Valley.
