Okunikko Yumoto Onsen

An onsen town said to date back to the Nara period, where sulfur springs rise in the innermost reaches of Nikko National Park. The source wells up on the shore of Lake Yunoko, and the originally colorless, clear water takes on a milky-white or greenish hue as it comes into contact with the air. Located on a plateau at an elevation of 1,500 meters, it is also known as a base for excursions to Senjogahara and Yudaki Falls.
