An onsen area in Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture, at the gateway to Kurobe Gorge. It was developed in the Taisho era by bringing onsen water from Kuronagi Onsen upstream through the mountains. The colorless, clear, slightly alkaline simple spring has a smooth feel and boasts some of the highest clarity in the prefecture. It is the starting point of the narrow-gauge torokko train that runs through the gorge, and has long been beloved as a base for journeys to the deep mountain wilderness.
