“Togura Kamiyamada Onsen Tamano-yu” is a high-quality, tranquil hot spring inn located on the peaceful banks of the Chikuma River in Chikuma City, Nagano Prefecture, and is proud of its 100% natural free-flowing hot spring water. From the observation large public bath on the top floor of the main building and the retro wooden open-air bath, you can take in sweeping views of the Chikuma River and the rich nature of the satoyama countryside, and enjoy the famous waters as many times as you like throughout the night. The hot spring has a gentle sulfur scent and is a mildly alkaline simple sulfur spring, with skin-feel that leaves you moisturized and smooth, known as a “beauty bath.” In addition to the large public bath, there is also a private open-air bath where you can enjoy the view in privacy, as well as many detached guest rooms with their own exclusive 24-hour natural free-flowing hot spring bath, allowing you to spend luxurious, secluded hot spring time.

Located on the 5th floor, the top floor of the main building, this observation large public bath overlooks the calm flow of the Chikuma River and the beautiful satoyama on the opposite bank. The indoor bath uses elegant two-tone granite, and extending from it is a nostalgic wooden bathhouse filled with atmosphere, where an open-air observation bath unfolds. It is filled with natural hot spring water with a gentle sulfur aroma and a smooth feel, offered as 100% natural free-flowing water, so you can enjoy the famous waters whenever you like, from dusk until the night sky sparkles with stars, throughout the night.

Private Open-Air Bath

A private open-air bath for staying guests, set on the side opposite the top-floor large public bath. In a space of exquisite stillness where no one will disturb you, you can monopolize 100% natural free-flowing hot spring water while gazing at the wonderful scenery of the Chikuma River basin. The slightly cloudy water is gentle on the skin and slowly eases daily fatigue and chronic stiffness. 45-minute reservation system, fee applies.

These are the superb exclusive open-air baths and indoor baths attached to guest rooms such as the detached tatami-style annex Mimatsutei in the annex building, or the newly established special room Tsukikaze Retreat on the 4th floor of the main building. You can soak whenever you like, for as long as you like, in a famous sulfur-scented bath with 100% natural free-flowing hot spring water, and enjoy a completely private bathing experience 24 hours a day. This luxurious bathing facility meets a wide range of needs, including secluded hot spring therapy stays, families with small children, and universal design rooms accessible to wheelchair users.
