About Yao Grand Hotel

Yao Grand Hotel is an onsen ryokan in Yao City, Osaka Prefecture. It offers Yao Natural Hot Spring as a free-flowing source spring; the faintly golden Bihada no Yu (skin-beautifying bath), a sodium chloride and bicarbonate spring, is even potable, making it a rare water quality. The facility is known for its ultra-high-temperature 100°C dry sauna, a large cold plunge bath with a depth of 1.2 m, and the hot-and-cold alternating bath experience called Yao-kagari which pairs a 46°C hot spring with the cold plunge. The hotel also houses one of the country's largest theaters dedicated to popular stage plays.

Yao Natural Hot Spring

Once beloved as a therapeutic bathing resort, this spring has gathered the earth's bounty over long ages and still wells up continuously today. The water quality is a sodium chloride and bicarbonate hot spring. The slightly golden water has a soft, clingy texture that is gentle on the skin, leaving a slow, deep warmth after bathing. Because of its high heat retention and moisturizing properties, it is known as Bihada no Yu (the skin-beautifying bath). The spring can be enjoyed across a variety of baths including open-air baths, waterfall-jet baths, and medicinal baths. All water is supplied as free-flowing source water, without artificial dilution or reheating, so guests can fully savor the spring's natural power. This long-healing water continues to attract many visitors as a famed Yao hot spring.

A retractable-seat Bona sauna that heats the seating and walls throughout, this is a traditional ultra-high-temperature dry sauna. It is a blistering space approaching 100°C; enthusiasts even say it makes löyly unnecessary and that it's so hot you can hardly breathe. Guests can sit and sweat profusely while watching TV. This is a classic, authentic 'Showa-era blistering sauna' sought after by advanced sauna users, where dry heat envelops the whole body relentlessly from the moment you enter.

A high-humidity steam room that contrasts with the dry sauna, enveloping the body in moist steam. In this quiet space without a TV, you can focus on sweating while surrendering to gentle steam. Many sauna-goers use it before or after the ultra-hot dry sauna to warm up slowly or to linger in the afterglow toward totonou.
