Osaka Osaka City
One of Japan's top saunas — Osaka's most powerful sauna
Osaka Sauna DESSE is an urban sauna facility in Chuo-ku, Osaka. Built around the concept of Osaka as a city of water, it offers 8 types of saunas: River, Kura, Forest, Tea Room, Water Surface, Garden, Hanare, and Musubi. The layout that lets you dive straight from the River Sauna into the cold plunge has attracted attention. The Tea Room Sauna is a quiet, tatami-and-earthen-wall space for silent bathing, while the Forest Sauna reproduces the humidity of a woodland with dim steam. There are 4 cold plunge baths filled with tap water, ranging from ultra-cold to deep tubs. The facility includes a semi-outdoor relaxation area, hammocks, and a dining and rest lounge. It is a 2-3 minute walk from Shinsaibashi Station, and facilities differ by day due to an alternating gender-day schedule.

The sauna room is themed after the Horikawa canal, with water flowing at the back and a direct route to the cold plunge. The unparalleled sense of liberation comes from diving in and emerging while submerged up to the head. Auto-löyly raises humidity and gently draws out sweat. It connects internally with the Kura Sauna, and during heat-wave (aufguss) services they operate as one.

A high-temperature, high-humidity steam sauna that recreates the calm, dim atmosphere of a forest. Deadwood objects and natural light simulate woodland humidity, making this the facility's hottest room. It is designed to pair with a dedicated tub cold plunge to achieve a deep state of relaxation. Moist heat envelops the body slowly.

A low-temperature, moderately humid sauna that is comfortable to spend time in. Ergonomic benches let you recline while enjoying the shimmer of water reflected on the ceiling. Located near an indoor relaxation space, it offers a tranquil atmosphere for a leisurely sweat.

A recreated tea room with tatami flooring, earthen walls, and raised seating that evokes traditional charm. On the stove, a teapot-shaped vessel is filled with tea, enabling guests to enjoy a tea löyly.

Offers self-löyly so you can adjust humidity and temperature to your preference. Whisking services are also available for a full authentic sauna experience. It is slightly hotter, suited for those who want to work up a strong sweat.

A sauna facing the semi-outdoor relaxation area. Large windows bring in outside air, creating an openness similar to outdoor cooling. It is close to a social area where conversation is allowed, making it enjoyable with friends.

A cold plunge bath you can jump into directly from the River and Kura Saunas. Its layout is directly linked to the indoor stream, allowing an immediate transfer from sauna to cold plunge. It crisply cools a heated body.

Wide, elongated shape.

A one-person cold plunge. At 8°C it is sharply cold and cools a heated body instantly. Located outdoors for easy back-and-forth with outdoor cooling. Recommended for those who want to concentrate on rapid cooldown.

A deep, tub-shaped cold plunge with a water depth of over 140 cm. Installed outdoors dedicated to the Forest Sauna, it allows you to sink in slowly. Moderately cold and suitable for longer soaks. Its tall shape cools the whole body.
