Kagawa Takamatsu City
Shikoku's premier paradise of flowing radon hot springs and saunas
Golden Time Takamatsu is a male-only sauna and capsule hotel in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture. It features three distinct saunas: an IKI sauna with auto löyly imported directly from Finland, a Solo SAUNA dedicated to self-löyly, and a Kampo herbal medicinal sauna themed on Kobo Daishi Kukai called Kukai no Yu. In summer the facility offers a cold plunge bath fed by groundwater that reaches about 8℃, and a free-flowing brown radon natural hot spring. Located in the heart of Takamatsu's entertainment district, it delivers an authentic full-scale sauna experience.

A brown radon-bearing natural hot spring. Classified as a medicinal spring, it has long been revered as a cure-all bath. Based on standards of the Ministry of the Environment, its therapeutic effects are recognized for a wide range of conditions, including neuralgia, joint pain, chronic skin diseases, gout, and arteriosclerosis, giving it notable medical value.

A vibra bath that emits a large volume of bubbles from the bottom. Fine bubbles envelop the body to promote circulation while also retaining the warmth effects of the radon spring. Guests can enjoy the massaging sensation of the bubbles and the gentle, gradual warming in the brownish water.

The main sauna is equipped with an IKI-brand stove imported from Finland. Water is periodically poured over the high stack of sauna stones, producing large volumes of steam and wave-like humidity that quickly fill the room. From 7:00 auto löyly activates every hour, and after 17:00 the interval shortens to every 30 minutes. A weekly rotating schedule also features staff-led löyly events. The staff-run event known as Jigoku löyly, where large amounts of löyly water and vigorous towel-fanning are used to rapidly raise the room temperature, is famous among heat masters and sauna enthusiasts as a Golden Time specialty.

A self-löyly-only sauna using a METOS-made ZIEL stove designed to withstand heavy löyly. Guests control scent and steam at their seat by pouring aroma water onto the stove; aroma bottles are available for purchase at reception. The quiet room plays healing music and offers an immersive experience where you craft your preferred heat and scent. Without a TV, it provides a focused, inward-facing contrast to the IKI sauna.

A Kampo herbal medicinal steam sauna that follows the tradition of medicinal herb baths established by Kobo Daishi Kukai in the Heian period. The room is maintained at 60–65% humidity and filled with the scent of Kampo herbs, allowing gentle, steady sweating at a relatively low temperature while inhaling herbal steam and components. A statue of Kukai carved from Aji stone, a Kagawa specialty, presides in the room, creating a distinct spiritual atmosphere.

A cold plunge bath fed by groundwater that boasts the lowest temperature in Kagawa Prefecture. The basin is 40–60 cm deep and in summer is filled with water around 8℃, producing an intense chilling sensation across the whole body. The extreme temperature gap with the 100℃ IKI sauna creates an unparalleled sense of totonou. After exiting the cold plunge, guests can recline in a chair in the outdoor King's open-air relaxation area and rest while enjoying the Takamatsu breeze.
