Located in Hakone-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture, Hakone Yuraku is a day-use hot spring facility with a rustic mountain village atmosphere. It features soft hot spring water sourced from Tounosawa Onsen, one of the seven famous hot springs of Hakone, an aufguss performed by a löyly master in the 'Atsunoshitsu' (sauna), and a 'Sawa Cold Plunge Bath' that reflects the mountain air.
The soft alkaline simple hot spring water envelops the skin, leaving a smooth bathing sensation that gently exfoliates while maintaining moisture until after bathing. With a variety of baths such as open-air baths, Shigaraki baths, and Mihari baths, one can warm up while feeling the seasonal winds and release the mind and body into the time of the mountain village.
Every hour, an aufguss is performed where aroma water is poured over a stove stacked with fragrant stones, and a löyly master uses a large fan to circulate heat and aroma. The gradually rising humid heat quickly warms the core of the body. The medium temperature and high humidity environment reduces prickliness and breathlessness, leading to deep and pleasant sweating. The event-like performance can be enjoyed, seamlessly connecting the pleasure from the sauna to the outdoor air and the Sawa Cold Plunge Bath.
Located in a bathhouse overlooking the scenery of the mountain village, the clear Sawa Cold Plunge Bath tightens the body after the löyly, creating a tranquility that clears the mind. Instead of a strong cooling effect, the smooth coldness naturally regulates deep breathing, and combined with the outdoor air bath, the afterglow lingers for a long time.
