Hyogo Kawanishi City
A premium relaxation spa where you can enjoy a wide variety of saunas and ultra-carbonated springs
"SPA Kisela Kawanishi" is a bath and wellness facility in Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture. It features four types of sauna, including a far-infrared sauna with automatic löyly and a barrel sauna, plus cold water baths and open-air outdoor relaxation spaces. The baths include a wide variety of therapeutic tubs such as ultra-carbonated springs, high-temperature baths, and tsuboyu tubs, allowing guests to thoroughly relieve both body and mind. Iwaburo, a spacious relaxation area, a restaurant, and a fitness gym are also on site, making it a refreshing space where you can spend the whole day in comfort.

A wide variety of baths are available, including ultra-carbonated springs with plenty of carbon dioxide dissolved into the water, high-temperature baths that warm the body thoroughly, and tsuboyu tubs sized for one person. With seasonal offerings such as non-stimulating baths appearing from time to time, you can enjoy different ways to relax depending on your mood.

A high-temperature sauna where far-infrared heat gently warms you from the core. Automatic löyly, in which water is regularly dropped onto sauna stones, is performed periodically, and the heat waves from the resulting steam circulate back into the room to quickly induce sweating. It is a comfortable space where you can relax while watching TV and enjoy a pleasant sweat.

A genuine sauna originating in Finland, characterized by its barrel-shaped wooden structure. The circular form allows heat and steam to circulate extremely well, and self-löyly lets you adjust the humidity and temperature to your preference. Surrounded by the rich aroma of wood, dry and pleasant heat permeates your whole body, promoting deep relaxation and invigorating sweating.

A calm, quiet space ideal for mindfulness, where you can take time to face yourself in earnest. By pressing a dedicated switch whenever you like, automatic löyly is activated and a refreshing wave of heat rolls in. With your eyes gently closed in silence, you can fully savor the sensation of heat seeping in and your body and mind becoming clear.

A women-only low-temperature sauna filled with a soft mist of hot water. Mild heat and abundant steam gently envelop the body, allowing even those who are not fond of hot saunas to relax comfortably. With every deep breath, moisture soaks in, encouraging natural sweating from the core of the body while slowly loosening both body and mind.

A cold water bath that sharply tones the body after it has been thoroughly warmed in the sauna. By rapidly cooling the heated body, it helps retain warmth and enhances the heat-preserving effect. The men's bathing area also includes a solo cold water bath where you can cool off in your own private space. After cooling down thoroughly, you can sink into the ultimate outdoor air bath on a breezy deck chair in the open-air area, feeling the sunlight on your skin.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
