Connected Sauna THE BARREL is a sauna specialty facility located in Yojirou, Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. It reopened in August 2025, evolving from private saunas to 'Connected Saunas.' Enjoy self-löyly in four types of saunas: VIHTA, PINE, KELO, and CABIN, and swiftly cool down in the chiller-cooled cold plunge bath. The facility offers a spacious outdoor relaxation area for up to 14 people and an air-conditioned meditation room for a fulfilling rest, along with fascia release and facial esthetics. Conversations are allowed in the sauna rooms, while other areas maintain a silent bathing style for achieving totonou.

01/CABIN
The main sauna cabin. It features benches with height differences ranging from 20cm to 140cm, allowing you to choose your seating based on temperature and sensation. The spacious area accommodates multiple people comfortably, and you can enjoy monthly self-löyly aromas. Regular heat wave services by staff allow you to experience intense convective heat throughout your body. Conversations are permitted in the sauna room, offering a new style of enjoying löyly while chatting with friends.
02/VIHTA
The largest diameter barrel sauna in Japan. Set at a high temperature of 100°C, the unique round space of the barrel efficiently circulates heat and steam. The self-löyly features the scent of vihta (young birch branches), spreading a refreshing coolness reminiscent of a Finnish forest. The enveloping heat typical of barrel saunas is pleasant, allowing for deep sweating in a short time. Conversations are allowed in the sauna room, enabling you to share the totonou experience with friends.
03/PINE
The smallest diameter barrel sauna in Japan. With a room temperature of 90°C, the compact barrel space intensifies the density of heat and steam, allowing you to fully absorb the intense heat waves. The self-löyly features a pine aroma, enveloping you in a deep woody scent while you sweat intensively. Ideal for those who want to quietly confront the heat in a small group. Conversations are allowed in the sauna room.
04/KELO
A small barrel sauna like PINE, set at a low temperature of 72°C. It allows you to warm your body from the core over time and sweat slowly. The self-löyly features a kelo (dried pine) aroma, deepening relaxation with its calming woody scent. Perfect for those who are sensitive to high temperatures or want to enjoy a long, leisurely session. Conversations are allowed in the sauna room.
Made from Kelo wood - standing dead trees that have endured over 200 years in Finland's harsh climate. Known as the 'Jewel of Wood' for its silver-gray patina and distinctive sweet aroma from concentrated resins.
Cold Bath
A cold plunge bath cooled by a chiller. The stable coldness unique to mechanical cooling ensures a thorough cool down of your sauna-heated body. It features a 110° backrest, allowing you to relax and immerse yourself without stress. As you lean back, the cold water envelops your entire body, smoothly dissipating the heat. After emerging from the cold plunge bath, you can achieve a deep state of totonou in the well-equipped outdoor relaxation space or meditation room.
