About Ringo no Yuya Obu~

Ringo no Yuya Obu~ is a day-use sento in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture. The entire facility uses “nano water,” a finely processed form of groundwater from the Alps, and the men’s open-air bath features a drinkable, jar-style cold plunge called Hitori Mizu. The men’s side offers two saunas: the auto-löyly Otokomae SAUNA and Arigato SAUNA, which is the first self-löyly sauna in Nagano Prefecture. The women’s side has Beppin SAUNA, designed from a female perspective, and the steam-based Uruoi SAUNA. The facility boasts the nation’s top selection of four types of electric baths, and also includes a bedrock spa, a locally sourced dining area, and a second-floor lounge, making it a famous sento in Matsumoto.

Carbonated Spring

An indoor carbonated spring bath. Carbon dioxide absorbed through the skin causes capillaries to dilate, which can promote circulation. Soaking for a long time warms the body thoroughly, and combined with the electric baths (the double effect of carbonic acid and low-frequency stimulation) it leads to further relaxation.

Electric Baths (4 types)

A signature bathtub area boasting four types of electric baths, featured on Japanese TV programs and the most in the country. It includes Zaraku Bath, which can massage both the lower back and knees simultaneously (a national first), a Yumomi Bath for the lower back, a Yumomi Bath for the shoulders, and a Yumomi Bath for the knees. Three types of low-frequency electric currents provide targeted stimulation to specific body areas, promoting circulation and muscle relaxation at the same time. The design enhances effects when combined with the carbonated spring bath.

An open-air bath that recreates the atmosphere of Little Kyoto, Matsumoto, in every detail. You can soak while looking up at blue skies by day and starry skies by night in a space full of Japanese charm. Surrounded by the soft water made from North Alps groundwater nano water, you can feel the changing seasons on your skin. It’s an ideal place to relax and release your body between sauna and cold plunge rotations.

A self-löyly sauna where you pour water directly onto the sauna stones yourself to feel the heat. The calm, dark-toned space lets you control your steaming pace at your own rhythm. You can feel the steam rising up close at the moment of löyly and create the wave of heat that wraps your body with your own hands.

A full-fledged automatic löyly sauna offering overwhelming heat and powerful aufguss shows. In the spacious stadium sauna you can fully experience dynamic steam and heat waves. The layout supports aufguss events, and the weekly Sunday "Obu~ aufguss" features authentic heat-wave performances by aufguss masters. The heavy red cedar wall surfaces reflect intense heat, and dense steam envelops the entire body. It’s a sanctuary for gentlemen pursuing the ultimate heat.

A special sauna room created from surveys by female staff and research firms to deliver what women truly want from a sauna. Every detail—fragrance, seating comfort, and color scheme—has been designed from a female perspective to create a space that balances comfort and healing. A steam sauna exclusively for women that emphasizes three benefits: beautiful skin, detox, and hydration. Unlike a high-temperature dry sauna, it offers a gentler temperature and moist steam for gradual sweating while adding moisture to the skin. A unique design allows you to apply mud or salt to your face before entering, steam inside the sauna, and then rinse it off at a dedicated shower near the entrance as part of a skincare routine. With low irritation and easy entry, it’s ideal for those new to saunas or those coming primarily for skin care.

A jar-style single-person cold plunge installed in a green corner of the open-air bath’s planting. The continuously flowing North Alps groundwater (nano water) from the spout is pure enough to drink. Binchotan Cold Plunge Bath

A Binchotan charcoal cold plunge using groundwater from beneath the North Alps that has been refined into gentle nano water via the latest nanotechnology. The Alpine spring water is filtered through Binchotan charcoal to deliver a finely tuned water quality. The natural mildness of spring water combined with the softness of nano water gently cools the body heated by the sauna. The water’s fine particles give a clingy, skin-hugging sensation for a deep cooldown.

A cold plunge using nano water made from North Alps groundwater so pure it’s used in sake brewing. Binchotan charcoal is placed at the water inlet to further enhance cleanliness, and the water’s soft, skin-hugging quality is a notable feature.
