Nagano Tateshina Town
A highland hot spring resort standing by Lake Shirakaba
Shirakaba Resort Ikenotaira Hotel is a hot spring and sauna facility in Tateshina Town, Kitasaku District, Nagano Prefecture. Located on the shores of Lake Shirakaba at an elevation of 1,400m, it offers panoramic views of Kurumayama and Lake Shirakaba from an infinity-style open-air bath. In the mixed-gender area, Kohan Konyoku Sora, there is a scenic sauna called Ku that appears to float on the lake, along with a cold cold plunge bath using natural flowing spring water from Mt. Tateshina. In the separate men's and women's indoor baths, you can enjoy aromatic auto löyly every 30 minutes. The Tarugasawa Onsen, a calcium-sodium sulfate spring, gently warms the body, and the post-bath lounge offers complimentary drinks made with natural spring water. Whether staying overnight or visiting for a day trip, you can enjoy a full resort experience all day long.

Tarugasawa Onsen is a sulfate spring whose main components are calcium and sodium. The water feels soft and has excellent heat retention, gently warming you from the inside out. It is expected to help with chronic muscle and joint pain, sensitivity to cold, and recovery from fatigue.

Auto löyly activates once every 30 minutes, filling the room with aromatic fragrance and moisturizing steam. The room also has a lying-down space, so you can stretch out, relax, and warm your body deep down to its core.

A sauna in the Stone Bath, built around natural stone. Auto löyly using orange aroma runs every 30 minutes, filling the room with a sweet, refreshing scent and plenty of steam. Like the Wood Bath, it also has a lying-down space, where you can stretch out, let your body go limp, and work up a deep sweat. The solid, weighty presence of the stone gives the space a sense of stability and creates an environment where you can focus on the high level of heat retention.

An observation sauna with panoramic views of Lake Shirakaba and Kurumayama. Designed with flowing curves inspired by mountain waves, it features large windows projecting toward the lake, creating a spectacular view that feels as if you are floating on the water. Three stoves warm the room to a comfortable level, allowing you to relax and sweat while taking in the clear air and magnificent scenery at an elevation of 1,400m. This is a mixed-gender area where swimsuits are required, so families and couples can enjoy the sauna experience together.

Day-trip bathing 11:30~23:00

A cold plunge bath using natural flowing spring water from Mt. Tateshina. The blessings of nature, flowing down from the high mountains, are used just as they are, creating exceptionally mellow and soft water. Three single-person pot-style baths are available.

A pot-style cold plunge bath with clear spring water that has passed through the strata of Mt. Tateshina. The indoor bath installation is about 15°C, offering a gentle cooling experience that gradually cools the whole body, while the outdoor pot bath is exposed to the outside air and can sometimes drop to around 9-10°C. Because it is a single-person pot-style bath, you can soak carefully and at your own pace, letting the heat leave your body thoroughly after the sauna.

A cold water bath with a waterfall-style pour, located just outside the Observation Sauna Ku. Natural flowing spring water from Mt. Tateshina is used, and while the temperature varies by season, it offers a crisp, refreshing chill. The natural water flowing into the tub is drinkable.
