HOTEL Seaside Shimabara is an onsen resort hotel in Shimabara, Nagasaki Prefecture. Its two main bathhouses, the panoramic bath in the New Building and the Tojidokoro in the Main Building, each have a dry sauna and a cold plunge, and day visitors are welcome from early morning until night. Two sources can be enjoyed here against the scenery of the Ariake Sea: one of the most strongly carbonated baths in Japan and the skin-friendly waters of Shimabara Onsen. In an open-air bath brushed by the sea breeze, or in a tub where carbonated bubbles cling to your skin, you can spend a wonderful stretch of time wrapped in the nature of Shimabara, the “city of water.”

New Building Panoramic Main Bathhouse
A wonderfully open panoramic main bathhouse that looks out across the Ariake Sea to the mountains of Kumamoto on the far shore. You can have the dramatic scenery of sea and sky, changing as the hours pass, all to yourself. The beauty at sunrise is especially remarkable, and as you sink into the skin-friendly waters of Shimabara Onsen, you can savor an elegant moment that lets you forget everyday life.
Main Building Tojidokoro
A relaxing Tojidokoro with an airy open-air bath and a spacious indoor bath. You can enjoy two tubs here: the skin-friendly waters of Shimabara Onsen and a rare, strongly carbonated bath whose concentration is among the highest in Japan. As you feel the fresh sea breeze, fine carbonated bubbles envelop your whole body and gently ease away the fatigue of body and mind.

The dry saunas in the New Building’s panoramic main bathhouse and the Main Building’s Tojidokoro are quiet rooms with a solid, enveloping heat where you can take your time and work up a good sweat. Hand your warmed body over to the cold water close by, and the cold pulls the body taut in a rush of refreshment. Use the rare, strongly carbonated bath in place of the cold plunge, and a special cool-down wrapped in fizzing bubbles unravels the fatigue of travel right down to your core.
